L&L's 9th Winter Wine Roundup, this year with Rancho de Los Caballeros in Arizona

When:
Thursday, February 4, 2027
February 4th-7th, 2027
Where:

Rancho de Los Caballeros Dude Ranch & Resort

Three nights of wine, horses, desert sunsets and good friends in Wickenburg, Arizona.

We're heading back to Rancho de los Caballeros for one of our favorite Wine Club getaways, and this time we're returning to a Ranch that has been completely reimagined.

Set on 18,000 acres of Sonoran Desert, Rancho de los Caballeros has been welcoming guests since 1948. Following an extraordinary multi-year renovation, the historic family-owned guest ranch now combines the Western character we love with beautifully refreshed casitas, new gathering spaces, a spectacular new pool complex, an updated golf club and the fine-dining restaurant, '19'.

And we'll be bringing the wine.

The Weekend

Winter Wine Roundup is deliberately relaxed. There are things we'll do together, plenty you can do on your own, and absolutely nothing wrong with spending an afternoon on your private patio looking out at the desert.

Our weekend includes:

• Three nights in a private Ranch casita
• Breakfast, lunch and dinner each day
• Lucas & Lewellen wines with our group dinners
• Two private Lucas & Lewellen wine tastings
• A special Lucas & Lewellen wine dinner at '19'
• A cowboy cookout
• Campfire, live music and something sweet under a starry Arizona sky
• One included Ranch activity for each night of your stay
• Plenty of unscheduled time to enjoy the Ranch

After dinner, you're likely to find at least a few of us hanging out in the Saloon.

Choose Your Adventure

This is a quintessential dude ranch, authentic but, you know, fancy.

Our package includes one activity for each night of your stay. Choose horseback riding through the Sonoran Desert, a round of 18-hole golf, or trap shooting.

Horseback riders get an extra bonus. Wine Club Manager Anjie's dad, Tony Thompson, will once again be joining us and giving our group that VIP treatment as we head out into the desert.

Beyond the included activities, the Ranch offers hiking trails, tennis, pickleball, swimming, spa and wellness treatments, e-bikes and other activities. Some carry an additional charge and advance reservations are recommended. Or do none of it. A chair in the Arizona sunshine is also a perfectly respectable Ranch activity.

Dinner at '19'

One evening we'll dust off our boots for something a little nicer for a special Lucas & Lewellen wine dinner at '19', the Ranch's new fine-dining restaurant. Located in the completely redesigned Golf Club, '19' features farm-fresh cuisine, sweeping desert views, and a 2,000-bottle wine cellar. We'll take it over for an evening built around great food, Lucas & Lewellen wines, and your Lucas & Lewellen friends.

The Cowboy Cookout

Another night takes us in the opposite direction. We'll head out for a traditional Ranch cowboy cookout, an evening of food, wine, cowboy songs, and the kind of wide-open desert sky that makes us remember why we keep coming back here. Later, we'll gather around the campfire with live music and something sweet before calling it a night.

Reserve upgraded accommodations early if the room itself is an important part of your getaway. Many of you will want to add nights at the beginning and end of your stay. Reach out to the Ranch for details.

Getting There

Rancho de los Caballeros is in Wickenburg, Arizona, approximately 70 miles northwest of Phoenix.

Guests flying should use Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and arrange transportation to Wickenburg in advance. Rental cars are also a good option, particularly if you'd like to explore Wickenburg or the surrounding desert during your stay.

Driving from the Santa Ynez Valley generally takes about six hours without significant Los Angeles traffic.

While You're in Wickenburg

Leave yourself a little time to explore. Wickenburg is an old Arizona ranching and mining town, not a manufactured Western resort town. Browse the shops downtown, look for Western jewelry or a new pair of boots, visit the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, hike, explore the surrounding desert or simply take a drive through some spectacular Arizona scenery. But don't feel obligated to go anywhere. Once you're at the Ranch, you may decide you'd rather stay put.

Reservations

We have reserved approximately 15 rooms, and our Rancho de los Caballeros trips have traditionally filled quickly. More may be added if they are available.

A one-night room deposit is required to reserve your casita, with the remaining balance due at departure unless other arrangements are made.

We strongly recommend reserving golf, spa appointments and preferred room upgrades early. Ranch activities and schedules are subject to availability and change.

Come for the wine. Ride a horse. Hit a golf ball. Sit by the fire. Stay up too late in the Saloon.

We'll see you in the desert.
